I’ve had a good couple of days with astrologers. You may be aware of my disdain for them, and if you weren’t aware you’d have guessed I expect. The crazies have been popping out of the woodwork.

Firstly we had some wackjobs trying to convince me that come September 23rd, ‘A sign will form in the heavens that fits the description of Revelation 12. This is the only time this sign will occur in history.’

The juxtaposition of religion and astrological prediction is always worth a laugh. Somehow I doubt the accuracy of the last statement, but let’s take it at face value. Venus, Mars, and Mercury will align with Regulus in Leo, and the Sun, which in turn will align with Jupiter in Virgo, and the Moon.

Except that won’t happen, because if the Sun’s up you can’t see the constellations or the planets, and though you can sometimes see the Moon in daylight that’s about it. As for the Sign fitting the description of Revelation 12, the version shown in the video looks more like a computer mouse and a jellyfish. There’s a fair amount of wishful thinking at Prophecy News Watch.

However, they are, ’…still collecting data from around the world on this once in a lifetime event.’ They promise to ‘sort through the many opinions and relay the most credible and informative sources to you.’ That means there will be will be a fair amount of analysis bias as well as a fair amount of wishful thinking. I shall watch developments with interest.

Now, a question for you. Ever heard of ‘karmic astrology’? I have to say that until Saturday my life had not been enriched by this concept, then somebody posted this in FB.

karma

This seemed an interesting theme to pursue, so off I went. Richard Brown set me on the path to enlightenment.

‘Your natal astrological chart shows not only your karma…but also your dharma, the high spiritual path your soul set to prior to this incarnation.’

Not entirely satisfied by this somewhat sketchy hypothesis, I turned elsewhere. Apparently this load of old socks goes back as far as the 1960s. Some loonie named Edgar Cayce professed that, ‘…the position of the planets at birth records the time spent by the souls on other planets (or perhaps their spiritual counterparts) in between incarnations.’

Ahaah. All becomes clear. ‘Karmic Astrology. Beguiling the gullible for 40 years!’

I missed my calling. I could have been rich by now.
