My entire family were avid readers. The house was full of books. The deal was that if the book was there, it was meant to be read. I read Lady Chatterley’s Lover while I was in junior school. It really was no literary holds barred in our house.
So this meme strikes a powerful chord with me. If you limit children because something is ‘above their reading age,’ how are they supposed to advance past there? And who decides what their reading age is? Holy cow, we’d all still be reading about Janet and John and Nip the dog and Fluff the cat.
